Rote Bete – Ruhr Universität Bochum

On Tuesday, 11 January 2022, the Akademisches Förderungswerk/Academic Promotion Agency (AKAFÖ) will open its first vegan restaurant "Rote Bete" on the campus of the university Ruhr Univer-sität Bochum (RUB). Named after the popular superfood vegetable, from Monday to Friday guests will be offered a diverse selection of culinary delicacies.

Thanks to the new room concept, the bistro has become a trendy restaurant. Grounded, warm col-ours, together with solid wood furniture, create a natural feel-good atmosphere inviting the guests to extended lunch breaks.

The decisive reason for the opening of a vegan restaurant was the high demand and the develop-ment in the food market. The academy AKAFÖ has been offering vegan food for a long time. In the restaurant "Rote Bete", the offer is now even more diverse and larger than it was in the past. Here, the guests are daily offered a selection of up to five different dishes. With the exception of a promo-tional dish, all dishes are offered in buffet form.

However, the restaurant "Rote Bete" is not just addressed to vegan guests. Regardless of the individ-ual dietary requirements, their objective remains to create awareness for nutrition as well as to offer fresh, healthy and, above all, delicious food on the university campus.
